What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a holistic practice that focuses on specific points and areas in the feet and hands, which correspond to different parts of the body. Through skilled hand and finger techniques, reflexologists aim to enhance circulation, promote relaxation, and support the body's natural balance. This complementary therapy not only addresses existing symptoms but also encourages the body's own healing processes to maintain overall wellbeing. By working on the feet, reflexology seeks to restore harmony to the entire individual.

What happens during a reflexology treatment?

During your initial visit, We will chat and I will ask you to fill in a consultation form. Based on this I will tailor the session to your specific needs.  In some instances, it may be  necessary to gain your doctors permission before treatment can commence.

You will be asked to remove only your socks and shoes and then enjoy your treatment on a comfortable couch, while I focus on your feet or hands. After cleansing with warm towels and applying balm, I will utilise precise pressure techniques to stimulate points corresponding to various organs and systems in your body.

Regular treatments can enhance the cumulative benefits of reflexology. For best results, a course of treatments over 4-6 weeks is recommended, followed by monthly sessions to stimulate your immune system and maintain well-being.

How will I feel after a reflexology treatment?

To gain maximum benefit from your reflexology treatment try to rest and take things easy as this helps to boost the body’s natural healing abilities. Increasing the amount of water that you drink can help to flush the toxins out of your system thereby aiding the detoxifying process

Just listen to your body and put aside time to relax. After one or two treatments your body may respond in a very definite way. Most people note a sense of well-being and relaxation; sometimes people report feeling lethargic, nauseous, or tearful, but this is transitory and is a part of the healing process.

This is vital information to feed back to the reflexologist as it shows how your body is responding to treatment. This will help the reflexologist to tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs.
